9/4: The exercises assigned today are due on 9/9 except as noted. Written exercises should be written neatly (not in your notes!) and turned in at the beginning of class on the indicated date. Of course, there is nothing to turn in for reading assignments, but there could be a quiz or writing assignment over that material. Online assignments are submitted electronically.

You are encouraged to stop by my office for help on the homework. However, you may not ask questions over homework on the day that the assignment is due.

Do NOT assume that any assignment beyond today's is correct! I often change them the day of class, or even right after class.

* Do this before our next class; do this first, before doing any other part of this assignment: Read the course introduction (syllabus) thoroughly. There is much information that you may need to know. Some of it could appear on a quiz. I gave you a copy in class. You can also find copies on the Help Page and on Schoology.
* Do this before our next class: Take this brief background survey. (Yes, this is required, and you will receive credit for doing it!) You will need to log in to your Carthage account.
* Do this before our next class: Determine how you will respond to in-class polls. Will you bring your phone or tablet to class every day? Will you use the computers in the classroom? Then bring your technology or sit close to a computer from now on.
* Do this before our next class: Do the exercises at this link. You will need to log in to your Carthage account to complete these exercises.
* Do this for our next class: BRING THE PIECE OF PAPER FROM TODAY'S CLASS (WHERE YOU TRIED TO FIGURE OUT THE ISLAND/BRIDGE PROBLEM) TO CLASS ON FRIDAY. I forgot to collect it, and I want to give you credit.

* Check the blog (see the link on the left side of this page) for updates. You should check the blog every day. I will provide homework hints, comments on how our class went, and more!

The following exercises are due 9/9. Make sure you write the due date on the assignment. You can turn it in early, perhaps even right after class.
* Do Skills Check Exercises 1 and 2 on page 23 of FAPP and exercises 6 and 10 on page 28 of FAPP.
* Fill out this homework response form after you have completed the assignment.

9/6: The exercises assigned today are due on 9/11.

We have a dedicated MTH 1030 tutor! She would like to know when you would like to have her available to provide help. Please fill out this form at your earliest convenience. Even if you don't need help now, you might later, so please fill out the form. She probably won't be able to find a time that works for everyone, but at least she will be able to meet with as many of you as possible.

* Read Sections 1.1 and 1.2, pages 5-14, in FAPP.
* Do Skills Check Exercises 5, 7, 17, 19, and 20 on pages 24-25 of FAPP, and exercises 55 and 62 on pages 34-35 of FAPP.
* Check the blog every day for new entries.
